Bursaries

DNIG will offer three bursaries in 2007. The bursaries, described below, are managed by the Registered Nurses Foundation of Ontario (RNFOO). For application forms, please contact RNFOO directly at:

Successful applicants will receive the award at the RNAO Assembly and AGM in April 2007.


The Mary Ann Murphy Memorial Diabetes Education Bursary

Awarded annually to a Registered Nurse or graduating baccalaureate nursing student who wishes to pursue advanced education (certificate or degree) focusing on diabetes education/care for persons with diabetes, and who has demonstrated a significant commitment to the cause of diabetes. Applicants must be members of the DNIG. This annual award is made possible through the generous sponsorship of the Murphy/Myers family.

Potential value: $1,000


The Margaret Myers Diabetes Clinical Practice Bursary

Awarded to a Registered Nurse or graduating baccalaureate nursing student who wishes to pursue education at the graduate level OR to complete a special project focusing on diabetes. The applicant has demonstrated significant interest in diabetes research, education, and care and is currently practicing, or intending to practice, in the field. Applicants must be members of the DNIG. This annual award is made possible through the generous sponsorship of the Murphy/Myers family.

Potential value: $1,000


The Ernie "Aieh" Jacobs Diabetes Memorial Bursary

Awarded to an RN or graduating baccalaureate nursing student who wishes to pursue diverse continuing education in the area of diabetes education and care specific to diabetes in the Aboriginal population. The applicant must have demonstrated a significant commitment to diabetes education / care and be currently practicing, or intending to practice, in a community that includes Aboriginals. Applicants must be members of the DNIG. This award is possible through the generous sponsorship of Smith and Nephew.
